Running Clubs

Running clubs stretch from Lakewood Ranch to Venice, Englewood, North Port and Punta Gorda, making Sarasota County a runner's paradise.  With an endless array of inspiring scenery, running surfaces and spectacular natural surroundings, what's not to love?  And every club welcomes newcomers to join in any of the many diverse races and social activities they have planned.

One of the area's favorite ongoing running events is the summer beach runs that take place weekly at Siesta Key Beach.  Kids and adults enjoy one-mile fun runs on one of the prettiest sections of Gulf-front beach in Florida.  They're the talk of the town from June-August.  For runners looking for more of a challenge, the Grouper Run - a marathon/half marathon that started in 2005 - is a springtime tradition.  Starting from historic Ringling Museum, runners enjoy vistas of white sand beaches, ten parks, and some of Sarasota's most interesting and beautiful neighborhoods. Whether your course is 13.1 or 26.2 miles, you are guaranteed to enjoy the scenic beauty and awesome views.
